Kitchen Refurbishment - Goudhurst

At Lacuna Design, we pride ourselves in our ability to transform your home without the upheaval and disruption that significant building work brings. We have recently completed such a project for a period family home in Goudhurst. The challenge was to give a new lease of life to an existing 30 year old Country Pine kitchen, without replacing the cabinets and granite work surfaces.

To achieve the feeling of more space in any situation, it is essential to introduce neutral colours throughout and where possible remove over-designed features. As you can see from the ‘before images’ there was already enough timber and colour in the structure of the building. The room also suffered from poor natural light.

The existing cabinets were cleaned, prepared and then finished in a Light Grey. Chrome hinges and knobs were added to lift and modernise the look, but without destroying the character and charm of the original. We removed the existing ceramic floor tiles and replaced them with Karndean flooring to give a warmer, lighter, softer and cleaner feel to the whole area.

From studying the ‘before and after’ images we hope you will agree that we have achieved bringing old into new, by transforming this traditional pine farmhouse kitchen.

We aim to make the process of planning a new space something to look forward to - not dread. Our designers help their clients create enjoyable spaces to live in, work in and entertain in, whilst retaining the excitement and sense of expectation along the way.
